big box stores are a city planner's nightmare and many consider wal-mart the biggest demon of them all. but this could all change if wal-mart follows through on this new idea. my professor sent me this article today:
"Bye Bye Big Box: Wal-mart abandons mega-stores in favor of locally-owned, downtown shops."
a wal-mart representative said "we're tired of being on the wrong side of the community-building equation."
amen to that!
april fools! great pic, by the way. : )
Argh! I bit! It's so sad to have had my hopes raised and dashed.
If only Americans cared . . . I wonder if my European immigration application will ever go through?
for the record, i bit, too... love the idea of little walmarts downtown! ha ha.
I actually didn't bite this time, but only because my very sweet, very cute little sister called me this morning to remind me not to be Aprilfooled, so I was vigilant. Otherwise, well, I'm a big sucker. (I am sad, though, that this isn't true. It would be an interesting idea.)
i was the original biter of it all. :/ ... what does that phrase really mean anyway....
Ah, Char. You were getting away with it! No need to admit. :)
If the last part of your comment was a rhetorical question, I apologize in advance for answering, but I think the idea of biting comes from the idea of taking the bait.
And, hey, did you notice we have categories now? Thanks, Jeremy!!!
did you know the email was joke prior to posting in on your blog?
i knew the photo was doctored, but had to consider momentarily the notion of walmart reducing it's square footage. then i thought, nah! we're talking about making money here!! good stuff, ct.
Your post made my sister cry. She didn't know it was a joke until I talked to her on the phone tonight. Poor idealist, their lives are so hard. :-(
oh no! ... i still think the idea should be pitched to wal-mart. :)
Because I am not a frequent “blogger” and that it is April 3, I have to confess: I fell for the Wal-Mart comment. Like Andy’s sister (not sure who you are Andy) I am “a poor idealist” as well. And yes—I would agree that our lives are hard as we deal with the sensitive thoughts of this world. =) As for you Miss. Charity, I have a bone to pick you. =) It would be neat though if such a thing would happen, but in this ESTJ society (yes, the Myers Briggs) life will never be what the NF desires.
PS. I realize this is not about Wal-Mart, nor its new marketing campaign but I did finally get my nose ring. See ya, lou
