When you have a bad short term memory, you forget your lunch on the counter, your coffee in the car, and why you walked into a room.
Well, this morning as I left the house I thought to myself, "Don't forget to pick up the New York Times" (I had forgotten to get one all week). The university has a program where students can get USA Today, Lincoln Journal Star, Omaha World Herald, and the New York Times for free. The NYT is always the first to go and if you don't get there before 9:30a, you're out of luck.
Alas, I once again forgot, ran into the union at 10a, and they were all gone.
sadness... :(
Charity, this falls squarely into Lewis's description of storge love--good ol' Charity and her memory problems--one of the many reasons I love you. :)
I had always heard that pregnant woman tend to have bad short-term memory. Then I became pregnant, and indeed, my short-term memory began to fail me. Funny, though, I learned why this is: the body is using more energy to incubate the little bun in the even and has less energy to dedicate to the brain's neurons! I guess it truly is a sacrifice.
Then Calvin arrived...and my short-term memory was all but gone! Such are the woes of the the mom! By kids 7 and 8 (dear God, I hope not!), I will only have a few good neurons left.
sarah, that kind of freaks me out! if it's this bad now and its gonna get worse?? i might end up traumatizing my kids by forgetting them in the grocery store or something!
My mom has 7 kids and her memory is pretty good. I've only ever been left at church once, and that wasn't very traumatic because they remembered me about ten minutes down the road.
