These are the words to the very catchy song I sang tonight until Jason begged me to stop and just go to the bookmobile, the bookmobile, bookmobile, the bookmobile.
Last time around I got four books and read just one (The Kite Runner), so naturally this time I got five:
A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby. I am a big Nick Hornby fan, so I am really looking forward to this one.
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. I have long been opposed to this book, so I don't know why I picked it up. The librarian, though, assured me that if it is as terrible as I have always suspected that I can punish the book by bringing it back unread. (And reading the Amazon description, I have a feeling I might do just that. Oh brother.)
Taking Heat: The President, the Press, and My Years in the White House by Ari Fleischer. In honor of Brook's and Lou's big crush on the former White House press secretary (true story).
Ordinary Wolves by Seth Kanter. A novel I know nothing about except that NPR featured it a while back. I am to report to the librarian on my findings.
Christmas with Martha Stewart Living: Decorating for the Holidays, which earned me a big eyeroll from my husband. Granted, he has been a trooper putting up with all my "This is our first Christmas [this]"es and "Awww, our first Christmas [that]"s, but he'll be sorry he scoffed when I make a wreath for our front door out of our unmatched socks or a tree topper from egg shells and jewel cases.
Argh! I missed the bookmobile (bookmobile, bookmobile, I-can't-believe-I-missed [pause] the BOOKMOBILE!). Bummer. Guess this means I'll just have to borrow from you again. Dibs on the Ari Fleischer when you're done -- I love me a good autobiography/memoir. (I could go to the library myself, but what fun would that be?)
I will likely be done with the Ari Fleischer quite soon (maybe not as quickly as Kite Runner). It's fascinating so far. I also have a biography of Rich Mullins borrowed from Joie, so perhaps I'll call December autobiography/biography month. I do love a good theme. :)
We had a Little Golden Book titled "Who Comes to Your House?" Best. Little. Golden. Book. Ever. One of the entries:
The bookmobile, the bookmobile
Is coming down the street.
Oh hurry, hurry, hurry
It's a very special treat.
To run inside and look around
And choose the books you need.
Then go into your house again
And read and read and read.
can't wait to see the wreath out of unmatched socks hanging on the door of the Grand...do you need any donations?
