Listening to Simon snore. Poor little buggy has a snotty nose, although he doesn’t seem to feel too bad.
Missing Peruvian food and music (a combination of an early bedtime for aforementioned stuffed-up baby and two adult introverts having too much going on this weekend).
Recovering from yesterday, one of my worst days in recent memory in terms of feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and generally sorry for myself.
Feeling refreshed after a day spent in Fremont with my parents.
Getting inspired (for the first time in a while). I have an idea for Christmas gifts that will require a bit of creativity, and I’m eager to get started.
Digesting delicious cake.
Letting it sink in that I am the mother of one who crawls. Simon did his first “official” crawling tonight.
Enjoying a quiet evening with my husband.
Looking forward to a short week and holidays with family.

Marveling at how this day just flew by.
Hoping that there’s no damage from the (small) car accident we were in this evening. (No one is hurt.)
Cleaning up from a delightful evening with our Life Group.
Thinking that in trying not to overspiritualize, I sometimes don’t say things I want to.
Aching just a little bit in the head.
Humming the theme song to Greatest American Hero (and now you are too, sucka!).
Wasting time on Facebook when I should be finishing this blog entry.
Starting Christmas wish lists (I want! I want! I want!).
Praying that God would send husbands or/and babies to dear friends desiring them.
Feeling scattered.
Getting sleepy.

Wishing Amelia a very happy second birthday (yesterday)!
Feeling adequately rested after Simon seems to have ended his boycott on sleeping through the night. We give thanks for answered prayer and at least partial credit to Hyland’s Teething Tablets, known in our household as the magic pills or baby peyote—we don’t know what makes them work, but we’re awfully fond of them around here.
Craving Indian food, especially Tandoori Chicken, even though that’s not always my first choice from the menu. And coffee.
Knowing that Jason was right to take leftover Halloween candy to work, but still wishing we had more chocolate in the house.
Watching Doctor Who. I just finished editing a book on the British sci-fi series and had never seen an episode. It took a little while to get past the low-budget special effects (part of the series’ charm according to fans), but it’s growing on me . . . in a Marian the Librarian sort of way.
Knitting a scarf. Something about fall makes me want to (re)learn to knit—even when it’s seventy degrees out.
Enjoying Andy’s series of Charity portraits.
Looking forward to voting tomorrow, despite my continued ambivalence toward the election (Brook taught me the proper use of the word “ambivalence,” which I previously thought was more similar to, if not synonymous with, “apathy").
Praying (see previous).

Waiting for Simon to wake up so that his daddy can introduce him to the wonders of the Italian Runza.
Finishing a project for work.
Pulling my hair out because I cannot for the life of me seem to get all my laundry folded and put away and it’s really bugging me.
Becoming utterly dejected about the election.
Revisiting sleep strategies for the wee one (though after midnight, last night was a bit better).
Thinking it’s been a while since I’ve busted out the camera.
Ditching our Halloween costumes (Simon’s will still be awesome, but we’re giving up on the family theme).
Taking stock of my kitchen supplies and wishing I could have another wedding shower. It doesn’t help that I have now ruined my only two good pots by burning rice--really, really burning the rice.
Changing into my swimsuit because Brookos is coming home, and one thing that Brook loves is hugging in swimsuits.

Calling it: It’s official. Summer is over. Fall is here. Bring on the pumpkin!
Enjoying a delicious snack of red-pepper hummus and flour tortilla chips.
Making a to-do list.
Cooking up some homegrown peaches (Thanks, Johnsons!)—some for a crisp, and the rest for baby food.
Doing laundry. Oh. my. goodness. Always with the laundry. It doesn’t help that I’m also about four baskets behind on the folding.
Being thankful that the morning passed quickly with Rebecca’s help (we loaded the kiddies up and ran some errands).
Wondering how much sleep a seven-month-old should be getting during the day.
Hoping that Simon’s nighttime sleep habits return to normal. He’s been sleeping (or should I say “waking") like a newborn for a few nights now. Ouch.
Wiping Simons snotty nose . . . but less frequently than yesterday and the day before that (Saturday? I lose track). This is surely at least partly to blame for aforementioned sleepless nights.
Fasting from the computer every evening this week. Time to reconnect with my husband!
Remembering to thaw out the salmon for tonight’s dinner.
Wishing I had eaten more or eaten differently for lunch.
Thinking that this edition of what I’m doing has been awfully food-focused. Ah well . . .

Making a chore schedule. Just before she abandoned me (kidding) Brook helped me make a list of cleaning tasks that should be done daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc. I think I will do better if I have it in a Monday do this, Tuesday do this, Wednesday ask Jason to do this format.
Signing Simon up for swimming lessons at the Y. I’m hoping we can get into a Saturday class so that both Jason and I can go. If not, I think we’ll wait until the next session. This is just to get him used to the water, and although I want to start him somewhat early, we don’t have to be in *that* big of a hurry.
Visiting little Collin in the NICU at Children’s Hospital in Omaha. My cousin’s baby was born six weeks early.
Finishing a proofreading project (hopefully today) and starting an editing project. I’m still trying to figure out how to find time to work (I suppose I should be working instead of blogging).
Eating waaay too many of these blueberry crumb bars. I made them for the Redeemer potluck last night and have too many leftovers.
Enjoying the fall is coming weather.
Thinking that at the rate my hair is falling out, I’ll be bald by the end of the week. Seriously, what’s up with this?
