My To-Stop-Doing List: Blog Edition
Posted in Blogging
Inspired by this post at Shutter Sisters (and blatantly copied from some of the comments there), I offer my To-Stop-Doing list re: the blog:
Hesitating
Comparing myself to others
Waiting to post until I “have time”/procrastinating
Overthinking it
Worrying about what “my thing” is (and just write already!)
Thinking I have to post every day or not at all
Waiting to post in order (e.g., I still haven’t written about Simon’s birthday, so I feel like I can’t write about anything else)
Feeling guilty
Thinking I have no readers anyway
So, fellow bloggers, what’s on your list?

Mine is totally the “wondering what my ‘thing’ is” (in reference to blogging.

You have readers! But I wonder that too, sometimes (about me, not you
-wondering if I’ve inadvertently turned into a recipe blog
-feeling guilty about the above for no apparent reason
-using the fact that I can’t post about what I spend 50 hours week doing as an excuse not to write anything
-self-censoring
-wondering if the fact that I really have little interest in fancy photography means I should stop posting many pictures

I read your blog. I love how you write. It is worth it whenever you find time to me. You’re not like anyone else.
Any more questions?
I think creative endeavors make us all feel this way at one time or another (I just wrote about this myself!).

I love it when you blog. Yay for Renae blogging!

Oooh, good one.
*Stop wondering how I can have over 800 hits/month and three comments…
*Stop doubting myself on the material I write about, it’s MY blog
*Stop thinking I have to be inspired to write
Hmmm, there’s more. I’ll have to come back to this. But great topic!

My list looks pretty much like yours. And I agree that most any creative endeavor is hounded by these things/thoughts, in one way or another.
Keep posting. I’m reading.
